Measuring method of Ball Screw Run-out and location tolerance

Radial Run-out of Bearing seat related to the centerline of screw groove

Place the Ball Screw in indentical V-blocks at both Bearing seat. Place the dial gauge perpendicular to the Nut cylindrical surface. Rotate Screw Shaft slowly and record the dial gauge readings. Measurement should be done at near both ends of threaded part. Some cases, this measurement will be done by both centerhole support, and directly measured on Bearing seat.

Radial Run-out of journal diameter related to the Bearing seat

Place the Ball Screw in indentical V-blocks at both Bearing seat. Place the dial gauge perpendicular to the journal cylindrical surface. Rotate Screw Shaft slowly and record the dial gauge readings. 

Axial Run-out Perpendicularity of shaft Bearing face related to the centerline of the Bearing seat

Support a Screw Shaft at both centers. Place the dial gauge perpendicular to the end surface of the journal. Rotate Screw Shaft slowly and record the dial gauge readings. This method is equivalent to the one, which is supported at both Bearing seats, becasue Bearing seats are ground related to both centers.
